# Can other people see my IP address on Fluxer?

Other users can't see your IP address in text chat or regular calls. Peer-to-peer calls and links to outside sites are the cases to know about.

No. Messages, profiles, moderation tools, bots and webhooks don't show your IP address to other people, and regular calls go through Fluxer's voice servers. Peer-to-peer calls and outside websites are the cases where someone else can see it.

## Can other people see my IP address on Fluxer?

Other people can't see it in text chat or regular calls. The one exception is a [peer-to-peer call](https://fluxer.com/help/can-people-see-my-ip.md), where the other people in the call can see your IP address. If a community bans you, nobody in it can see the email address or last-used IP address that the ban uses to keep you out, and that includes the community's owner and moderators.

Fluxer's servers fetch link previews, so the linked site sees a request from Fluxer and not from you, as [section 13 of our privacy policy](https://fluxer.com/privacy.md) says. When you open a link or press play on a YouTube embed, your device connects to that site, and it sees your IP address like any site you visit. On a self-hosted instance, the people who run it can see the IP addresses that connect to their server, the same way the owner of any website can.

## Do peer-to-peer calls show my IP?

Yes. In a [peer-to-peer call](https://fluxer.com/help/peer-to-peer-calls.md), your audio and video go directly between you and the other people in the call, and they can see your IP address. Before you join one, the app asks "Join a P2P call?" and tells you "Other participants in a P2P call can see your IP address." It skips that question only if you turned on "Join P2P calls without asking" in your settings.

## Can a bot get my IP address?

Fluxer never gives a bot your IP address, and a bot only gets the messages in the channels its roles let it see. If a bot asks you to verify on a website, that site sees your IP address when you open it. Fluxer warns you before an outside link opens.

Communities can also use Fluxer's own verification levels, which don't send you to an outside site. A community can require a verified email, an account that's at least 5 minutes old or 10 minutes of membership before you can take part.

[Section 1](https://fluxer.com/guidelines.md) and [section 6](https://fluxer.com/guidelines.md) of our community guidelines forbid invasive monitoring and sharing someone's personal information without consent. If a bot does that, [report it](https://fluxer.com/help/report.md), and a person on our team will look at the report and decide what happens next.
