# Does Fluxer have category permissions?

Yes. You can set permissions once on a category, and every channel in it that's synced with the category uses them.

Yes. You can set permissions on a category, and every channel in it that's synced with the category uses the same ones until you give that channel its own overrides.

## Does Fluxer have category permissions?

Yes. You can set permission overrides for roles and members on a category the same way you set them on a channel. A new channel you create inside a category starts with the category's overrides, unless you give it its own overrides when you create it.

When you change a category's overrides, every channel in it that had the same overrides as the category before the change gets the new ones too. A channel you changed on its own keeps its own overrides, and it stops being synced with the category.

## How does "Sync with category" work?

The "Permissions" tab of each channel says whether it's synced with its category. If it isn't, "Sync with category" copies the category's overrides onto the channel and replaces the channel's own. You need permission to manage both channels and roles to use it.

In the web and desktop apps, moving a channel into another category doesn't change its overrides. To make it follow the new category, use "Sync with category" afterwards.
