# Privacy and security

What Fluxer can and can't see, and how we protect your account.

- [Message and call privacy on Fluxer](https://fluxer.com/help/message-privacy.md): How Fluxer handles calls, screen share previews and deleted messages, what changes on a self-hosted instance and where end-to-end encryption stands.
- [Can Fluxer staff read my DMs?](https://fluxer.com/help/can-fluxer-read-my-dms.md): Nobody at Fluxer reads your DMs, and we don't have anyone else read them for us. The only exceptions are when a person on our team with the right access looks at the specific messages involved in a report, a specific rule break, a credible safety issue or a valid legal request.
- [Fluxer's encryption roadmap: calls, DMs and communities](https://fluxer.com/help/encryption.md): Fluxer encrypts your data in transit and at rest. End-to-end encrypted calls are planned for 2026, and encrypted notes, DMs and group DMs as an experimental draft in 2026 and stable in 2027.
- [Is Fluxer end-to-end encrypted?](https://fluxer.com/help/is-fluxer-end-to-end-encrypted.md): Not yet. Fluxer encrypts messages in transit and at rest, and end-to-end encrypted calls, notes, DMs and group DMs are on its roadmap for 2026 and 2027.
- [Does Fluxer track me or sell my data?](https://fluxer.com/help/tracking.md): No. Fluxer has no third-party analytics, no fingerprinting and no cross-site tracking, runs no ads, doesn't sell your data and never trains AI on your content.
- [Does Fluxer scan my messages or files?](https://fluxer.com/help/content-scanning.md): Nobody at Fluxer reads your messages except in four specific cases, and we run no generative AI or LLM over them. Automated checks look for spam, coordinated abuse, taken-over accounts, harmful links and explicit images.
- [Where is Fluxer hosted? Can the US government get my data?](https://fluxer.com/help/hosting.md): Fluxer is a Swedish company with most of fluxer.com's data in the US today. We review every government request we receive, and until we move to our own hardware in Sweden, US authorities can also send orders to our US hosting provider.
- [Is Fluxer hosted in Europe?](https://fluxer.com/help/is-fluxer-hosted-in-europe.md): Not yet. Most of fluxer.com's data is hosted in the US today, and a move to Fluxer's own hardware in Sweden is planned.
- [Is Fluxer an American company?](https://fluxer.com/help/is-fluxer-a-us-company.md): No. Fluxer is run by Fluxer Platform AB in Sweden, with no US company behind it, although most of fluxer.com's data is hosted in the US today.
- [Can a foreign government get my data from Fluxer?](https://fluxer.com/help/foreign-government-requests.md): Governments outside the EU have to ask Sweden for legal assistance, and Swedish prosecutors and courts decide under Swedish law. Other EU countries follow the EU's e-Evidence rules.
- [Is Fluxer subject to the US CLOUD Act?](https://fluxer.com/help/cloud-act.md): Fluxer is a Swedish company with no company or office in the US, and a US order sent directly to us can't be enforced in Sweden. We're moving fluxer.com's data from a US host to our own servers in Sweden.
- [How do Swedish and EU law protect my data on Fluxer?](https://fluxer.com/help/swedish-and-eu-privacy-law.md): The GDPR covers all your data on fluxer.com wherever it's stored, IMY supervises us, and Swedish authorities need a decision under Swedish law to get your data.
- [Where will Fluxer's servers be in Sweden?](https://fluxer.com/help/servers-in-sweden.md): We're moving fluxer.com from US hosting to our own hardware in Sweden, with 31173 Services AB, a Swedish colocation and network provider.
- [Is a self-hosted Fluxer instance more private?](https://fluxer.com/help/self-hosted-instance-privacy.md): On a self-hosted instance, Fluxer has none of its messages, files or accounts. The people who run it decide where its data is stored and who can access it.
- [What other people and bots on Fluxer can see about you](https://fluxer.com/help/what-others-see.md): Other people and bots don't get your IP address from Fluxer, except in opt-in peer-to-peer calls, and an app only gets your email address if you allow it.
- [What happens when I block someone on Fluxer?](https://fluxer.com/help/what-happens-when-i-block-someone.md): Fluxer doesn't tell the person you block. Neither of you can send the other a DM, and their messages in communities you share collapse into one row.
- [Does Fluxer have read receipts?](https://fluxer.com/help/does-fluxer-have-read-receipts.md): No. Other people on Fluxer can't see whether you've read their message, and read receipts aren't on our roadmap.
- [Does "Invisible" hide me completely on Fluxer?](https://fluxer.com/help/invisible-status.md): No. "Invisible" makes you appear offline, and people still see the messages you send and see you when you join a voice channel.
- [Can other people see my IP address on Fluxer?](https://fluxer.com/help/can-people-see-my-ip.md): Other users can't see your IP address in text chat or regular calls. Peer-to-peer calls and links to outside sites are the cases to know about.
- [Two-factor, passkeys and signed-in devices](https://fluxer.com/help/two-factor.md): Fluxer supports authenticator apps, passkeys, security keys and backup codes. If you lose your second factor, a backup code gets you back in.
- [Lost your 2FA app or passkey? How to get back into Fluxer](https://fluxer.com/help/lost-two-factor.md): Use a backup code if you saved one. Otherwise write to support from your account's email address, and a person on our team will help.
- [How do I sign out my other devices on Fluxer?](https://fluxer.com/help/sign-out-other-devices.md): You can sign out one device or every other device from "Linked devices", and changing or resetting your password also signs out your other devices.
- [Why does claiming a gift on Fluxer need a captcha?](https://fluxer.com/help/gift-captcha.md): Claiming a gift asks for a captcha, and your device works out a small calculation to make it harder for bots to claim gifts. There's no puzzle to click through and no third-party captcha service.
- [Why did my antivirus flag Fluxer?](https://fluxer.com/help/antivirus-warnings.md): A Windows build that hooked into games for better screen capture was flagged by some antivirus software. We removed that feature, and Fluxer isn't malware.
- [Is Fluxer Canary a virus?](https://fluxer.com/help/is-fluxer-canary-safe.md): No. Fluxer Canary is our own early-release desktop app, signed the same way as the regular app. Some antivirus apps flagged an older build's game capture.
- [How do I check that my Fluxer download is genuine?](https://fluxer.com/help/verify-fluxer-download.md): Download Fluxer only from our download page or GitHub, check the signature on Windows and compare the .sha256 checksum from pkgs.fluxer.com.
- [Will Fluxer scan my messages because of Chat Control?](https://fluxer.com/help/chat-control-scanning.md): Fluxer doesn't scan your messages or files for child abuse material, and as of October 2026 no EU law requires it to. Here's what Fluxer checks and what could change.
