# Where is Fluxer hosted? Can the US government get my data?

Fluxer is a Swedish company with most of fluxer.com's data in the US today. We review every government request we receive, and until we move to our own hardware in Sweden, US authorities can also send orders to our US hosting provider.

Fluxer is run by a Swedish company, and most of the data on fluxer.com is stored in the United States today. We're [moving to our own hardware in Sweden](https://fluxer.com/help/hosting.md), and [section 6 of our privacy policy](https://fluxer.com/privacy.md) says where your data is kept until the move happens.

## Where is Fluxer hosted?

Most account information, messages, communities and files on fluxer.com are hosted in New Jersey in the United States, and fluxer.com [isn't hosted in Europe yet](https://fluxer.com/help/is-fluxer-hosted-in-europe.md). Call traffic can go through locations around the world so calls connect near the people in them, and it's encrypted in transit. Section 6 of our privacy policy says where data is kept, and we update it first when any of this changes, including the [move to Sweden](https://fluxer.com/help/hosting.md).

## Is Fluxer an American company?

No. fluxer.com is run by [Fluxer Platform AB](https://fluxer.com/company-information.md), a [Swedish company](https://fluxer.com/help/is-fluxer-a-us-company.md) founded in Stockholm. The GDPR applies to all of your data on fluxer.com wherever it's stored, and the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) supervises our company.

## Does Fluxer send my data to the US government?

We never hand over your data just because a government asks. We disclose it in response to a valid legal request that passes our review under section 14 of our privacy policy, and in a genuine emergency we can disclose it without telling you first to prevent death or serious physical harm. An order from a government outside the EU [can't be enforced against us without going through Swedish prosecutors and courts](https://fluxer.com/help/foreign-government-requests.md).

When we get a [legal request](https://fluxer.com/privacy.md), we review it, narrow or reject it if it's invalid or overbroad, and tell the people affected before we disclose anything in response, so that they can object, unless the law forbids it or a genuine emergency puts someone at risk of death or serious harm. [Section 4.3 of our privacy policy](https://fluxer.com/privacy.md) lists the other cases where we disclose data, including our reports to NCMEC about confirmed child sexual abuse material.

When a person on our team confirms reported [child sexual abuse material](https://fluxer.com/help/content-scanning.md), we report it to NCMEC's CyberTipline, a US nonprofit that passes reports on to law enforcement in the US and other countries. These reports are separate from legal requests.

## Can US authorities still request my data?

A US order sent directly to us can't be enforced in Sweden, and we point US authorities to the treaty route through Sweden and review every request under section 14 of our privacy policy. Data stored with a US hosting provider can be subject to US orders to that provider, as section 6 of our privacy policy says, and our article on [the CLOUD Act](https://fluxer.com/help/cloud-act.md) explains both.

[End-to-end encryption](https://fluxer.com/help/encryption.md) is planned, but nothing on Fluxer has it yet.

## Is Fluxer moving its hosting to Europe?

Yes. We're moving fluxer.com from US hosting to our own hardware in Sweden. 31173 Services AB, a Swedish data center and network provider, supplies the space, power and network connection, and [our article on the move](https://fluxer.com/help/servers-in-sweden.md) has the details. We haven't set a date for the move yet, and until then section 6 of our privacy policy says where your data is.

Call relays will stay in cloud locations around the world after the move, so that calls keep connecting near the people in them. Once [the new voice system](https://fluxer.com/blog/roadmap-2026.md) brings end-to-end encrypted calls, the relays won't be able to access what's said or shown in a call.

## Are there voice servers near me?

fluxer.com runs voice servers in regions across North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania, and our [home page](https://fluxer.com/index.md) lists every region. Each call uses the region closest to the first person who joins it, unless the voice channel is set to a specific region.

## Where do authorities send legal requests?

Authorities send legal requests to [legal@fluxer.com](mailto:legal@fluxer.com), as our [company information page](https://fluxer.com/company-information.md) says, and section 14 of our privacy policy says what a request needs to include.
