# Is Fluxer end-to-end encrypted?

Not yet. Fluxer encrypts messages in transit and at rest, and end-to-end encrypted calls, notes, DMs and group DMs are on its roadmap for 2026 and 2027.

Fluxer encrypts your messages and files in transit and at rest, and calls are encrypted in transit. End-to-end encryption isn't out yet, so nothing on Fluxer is end-to-end encrypted today, including voice and video calls, as [section 9 of our privacy policy](https://fluxer.com/privacy.md) says. Our [encryption roadmap](https://fluxer.com/help/encryption.md) plans encrypted calls for 2026, and encrypted notes, DMs and group DMs as an experimental draft in 2026 and a stable release in 2027.

## Is Fluxer end-to-end encrypted?

Not today. Fluxer's servers process messages and calls to deliver them and can access their content, and your data is [encrypted in transit and at rest](https://fluxer.com/help/encryption.md). [Nobody at Fluxer reads your messages](https://fluxer.com/help/can-fluxer-read-my-dms.md) except in a few limited cases, such as when someone reports them.

[Calls](https://fluxer.com/help/encryption.md) get end-to-end encryption first, and [notes, DMs and group DMs](https://fluxer.com/help/encryption.md) will follow.

## Why do some sites say Fluxer is end-to-end encrypted?

Some listings, reviews and AI answers say Fluxer is end-to-end encrypted today, and some say it never will be. Neither is true, because end-to-end encryption is planned and nothing on Fluxer has it yet. Section 9 of our privacy policy will say when that changes.

## Will end-to-end encryption have an off switch?

No. Once they're out, encrypted calls and encrypted notes, DMs and group DMs will have no setting to turn them off in the open source Fluxer software. fluxer.com runs that software, and people who self-host Fluxer can run it on their own servers too.

## What can I do before end-to-end encryption is out?

You can [run your own Fluxer instance](https://fluxer.com/help/self-hosting-fluxer.md), and then your messages and files are stored on servers you choose and [Fluxer has none of them](https://fluxer.com/help/self-hosting-fluxer.md). An instance isn't end-to-end encrypted either, so whoever runs it can access its content the way Fluxer can on fluxer.com.

You can also [export your data](https://fluxer.com/help/data-export.md) at any time from "Privacy" in "User settings".
