# Why do I keep getting 'new IP address' sign-in emails?

Fluxer emails you before a password sign-in from an IP address your account hasn't approved, which also happens when your own network changes.

Fluxer emails you when you sign in with your password from an IP address your account hasn't approved before, and you get it again each time your IP address changes. If you turn on two-factor authentication, you won't get these emails.

## Why do I keep getting emails about a sign-in from a new IP address?

When you sign in with your password from a new IP address, and your account doesn't use two-factor authentication, we email you before you're signed in. The email has the subject "Authorize a Fluxer sign-in from a new IP address" and shows the IP address and an approximate location. The link in it works for 15 minutes, and the sign-in screen lets you ask for one more email after 30 seconds if the first one doesn't arrive.

Mobile networks, VPNs and some home connections change your IP address often, and you can get this email each time it changes. If you [turn on two-factor authentication](https://fluxer.com/help/two-factor.md), the app asks for your second factor and you won't get this email.

We keep the IP addresses you've approved on your account, and they're cleared when you delete the account, as [section 2.2 of our privacy policy](https://fluxer.com/privacy.md) says.

## Why does the new IP link send me back to the sign-in screen?

The sign-in screen that sent the email keeps waiting, and it signs you in by itself once you open the link, even if you open the link on another device. The page that opens from the link says "IP address authorized", and you can close it or sign in again.

If you closed the sign-in screen or the app before you opened the link, sign in again from the same network. The address we approve is the one the sign-in came from, and the device where you opened the link doesn't change which address is approved.

## Is a new IP email a sign that I was hacked?

First check that the email is really from us, because [Fluxer's emails come from addresses ending in @m.fluxer.com](https://fluxer.com/help/emails-from-fluxer.md). We only send this email after someone types your correct password, so if you didn't try to sign in, someone else knows your password. They can't sign in unless someone opens the link in the email. Don't open it, and change your password right away and turn on two-factor authentication for your account.

The check only applies to new sign-ins and doesn't sign out devices that are already signed in. Changing your password signs out every other device you're signed in on, and so does "Sign out all other devices" under "Linked devices" in "User settings".
