# Is Fluxer getting a new voice system?

Yes. A new voice and video system with end-to-end encrypted calls is item 2 on Fluxer's 2026 roadmap.

Yes. We're replacing the voice and video software [Fluxer calls](https://fluxer.com/help/voice-and-video.md) use today with our own voice server and our own call code in the apps. It's [item 2 on our 2026 roadmap](https://fluxer.com/blog/roadmap-2026.md), we plan to ship it in 2026, and every call on it will be end-to-end encrypted.

## What changes with the new voice system?

Joining a call will be faster, and every call on the new system will be end-to-end encrypted with no setting to turn it off and no unencrypted fallback. The desktop, web and mobile apps will all move to it. Calls today aren't [end-to-end encrypted](https://fluxer.com/help/encryption.md).

## Will the new voice system improve screen sharing?

Yes. On the new system, each stream will get its own connection, so a problem with one stream is less likely to affect the rest of the call. A stream will also be able to have far more viewers without slowing the call down for the people in it.

## When is the new voice system coming?

It's planned for 2026, and we don't have a more exact date. Around March 2026 we said encrypted calls would come in the next update, and [that estimate was too early](https://fluxer.com/help/encryption.md).
