# How do I reinstall Fluxer on Linux?

Remove Fluxer with the tool you installed it with, delete ~/.config/fluxer and install it again. Steps for the Flatpak, the packages, the AppImage and tar.gz.

To do a clean reinstall on Linux, quit Fluxer, remove it the same way you installed it, delete its data in `~/.config/fluxer` and install it again. The Flatpak deletes its own data when you uninstall it with `--delete-data`. You're signed out of every account on this computer, and your messages, communities and account settings come back when you sign in. Check [what you need before you start](https://fluxer.com/help/clean-reinstall.md), such as your password and your second factor.

## How do I reinstall the Fluxer Flatpak?

1. Quit Fluxer, or run `flatpak kill app.fluxer.Fluxer`.
2. Run `flatpak uninstall --delete-data app.fluxer.Fluxer`.
3. Install Fluxer again with the Flatpak instructions on the [download page](https://fluxer.com/download#linux).

For Fluxer Canary, use `app.fluxer.FluxerCanary` in both commands.

## How do I reinstall Fluxer on Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora or Arch Linux?

1. Quit Fluxer from the tray, or end every Fluxer process in your system monitor.
2. Remove the package with your package manager.
   - On Debian and Ubuntu, run `sudo apt remove fluxer`.
   - On Fedora, run `sudo dnf remove fluxer`.
   - On Arch Linux, run `sudo pacman -Rns fluxer`.
3. Delete your data and the startup entry with `rm -rf ~/.config/fluxer ~/.config/autostart/app.fluxer.FluxerDesktop.desktop ~/.config/autostart/fluxer.desktop`. If you set `XDG_CONFIG_HOME`, use that folder in place of every `~/.config` in the command before you run it.
4. Install Fluxer again from the [download page](https://fluxer.com/download#linux).

A reinstall turns on "Launch Fluxer at login", so Fluxer opens when you log in to your computer. If you don't want that, you can turn it off in "Linux app" settings.

For Fluxer Canary, the package is `fluxer-canary`, the folder is `~/.config/fluxercanary` and the startup entries are `app.fluxer.FluxerDesktopCanary.desktop` and `fluxer-canary.desktop`. If you installed Fluxer in early 2026 and never updated it, the package may still be called `fluxer-app` on Debian and Ubuntu or `fluxer_app` on Fedora.

## How do I reinstall the Fluxer AppImage or tar.gz?

1. Quit Fluxer from the tray, or end every Fluxer process in your system monitor.
2. Delete the AppImage file or the folder you extracted. If you find any `.fluxer-update-` folders next to the AppImage file, delete those folders as well.
4. Delete the menu entry Fluxer added with `rm -f ~/.local/share/applications/app.fluxer.FluxerDesktop.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/fluxer.desktop`. If you set `XDG_DATA_HOME`, use that folder in place of every `~/.local/share` in the command before you run it.
5. Download Fluxer again from the [download page](https://fluxer.com/download#linux).

A reinstall turns on "Launch Fluxer at login", so Fluxer opens when you log in to your computer. If you don't want that, you can turn it off in "Linux app" settings.

For Fluxer Canary, delete `~/.config/fluxercanary` and the menu and startup entries `app.fluxer.FluxerDesktopCanary.desktop` and `fluxer-canary.desktop`.
