Discord's privacy policy says "We don't make money from selling your personal information to third parties", and it also says Discord uses your information "to help us surface sponsored content (like Quests and other sponsored formats)".1
What does Discord's privacy policy say about ads?
Discord's current privacy policy says "We may also receive information about you from advertisers and third-party data providers, such as demographic information and how you engage with other products and services outside of Discord."1
It also says Discord may give "analytics and measurement partners" information "to measure the effectiveness of sponsored content if you engage with it (for example, by starting a Quest or clicking on other sponsored content)."1
When did Discord's privacy policy change?
Discord's privacy policies that took effect in March 2023 and April 2024 said "Our business is based on subscriptions and paid products, not from selling your personal information to third parties."2 The policy that took effect on September 29, 2025 says Discord's business is funded through "subscriptions, paid products, and sponsored content".1
Discord's summary of that update says "As users and advertisers have embraced Quests, we are improving our approach to sponsored content to deliver more value."3
What data can advertisers give Discord?
Discord's terms for advertisers let them upload their own customer data, which Discord matches with Discord accounts to target ads. The same terms say Discord may build "lookalike targeting audiences of Discord users with similar characteristics", and that it will "delete or de-identify Customer Data that does not match a Discord user account".4
Discord's Events API terms say advertisers can send Discord data such as "hashed emails, hashed phone numbers, hashed mobile identifiers" to match people with their Discord accounts.5 Discord's measurement terms say the results Discord shares with advertisers "will not include individual user data or non-aggregated information."6
What does Discord say about US state privacy laws?
Some US state privacy laws give "sale" and "targeted advertising" their own legal definitions, and Discord's page about these laws uses those terms. It says "Discord does not sell the personal information of our users as those terms are defined in the CCPA."7
It also says "We may combine the data we collect with information from other businesses to deliver more relevant sponsored content to you" and that this "is considered processing your personal information for targeted advertising under certain state laws."7
Can I stop Discord from using my data for ads?
Discord's own settings let you turn off personalized sponsored content, and you can read how those settings work for Quests and other sponsored content.
Does Fluxer sell your data?
fluxer.com doesn't sell, rent or license your messages or any other personal data, and you can read what we collect and why and section 4 of our privacy policy.
