Can Fluxer staff read my DMs?

Nobody at Fluxer reads your DMs, and we don't have anyone else read them for us. The only exceptions are when a person on our team with the right access looks at the specific messages involved in a report, a specific rule break, a credible safety issue or a valid legal request.

Nobody at Fluxer reads your DMs, group DMs or community messages, and we don't have anyone else read them for us. The only exceptions are when an authorized person on our own team looks at the specific messages involved because someone reported them, we're investigating a specific rule break, there's a credible safety issue or we've received a valid legal request, as section 5 of our privacy policy explains.

Can Fluxer staff read my DMs?

Nobody at Fluxer reads your DMs, and we don't have anyone else read them for us. The only exceptions are the four cases at the top of this page. Nothing on Fluxer is end-to-end encrypted yet, and our servers can access message content, DMs and group DMs included, to deliver and store it. Section 5 of our privacy policy says that only people in certain roles can open stored content and that every access is recorded in an audit log that we keep.

End-to-end encryption for DMs and group DMs is planned. Once the stable release is out, only the people in a conversation will be able to read the messages it protects, and Fluxer won't be able to read them. Our encryption roadmap says when it's planned and which details the server will still see, such as who is in a conversation.

Does Fluxer read my private messages?

Nobody at Fluxer reads your private messages, and we don't have anyone else read them for us. The only exceptions are the four cases at the top of this page, and the content of your messages is never used for ads, AI training or usage statistics.

Legal requests go through the review in section 14 of our privacy policy, and when a request passes that review, we can give the specific messages it covers to the authority that sent it. We tell you before we disclose anything unless the law forbids it or there's a genuine emergency. You can also appeal our decisions about your account or content.

When someone reports a message, we can keep a copy of it with the messages around it, its attachments and the report details. Only authorized people on our team can open the copy, every access is recorded, and we delete it within 1 year of the report unless the law requires us to keep it longer, as section 7.4 of our privacy policy says.

Can staff see deleted messages?

Nobody at Fluxer reads a message after you delete it, with one exception. If the message was part of a report made before you deleted it, authorized people on our team can still read the copy kept for that report until it's deleted within the period in section 7.4.

When you delete a message, it's removed from Fluxer, usually within a few minutes. Encrypted backups can still have a copy for up to 30 days, as section 7.3 of our privacy policy says, and nobody reads that copy before the backup is deleted on schedule.
