Which reported problems will the new voice system fix?

The voice, video and screen share problems people reported on Fluxer Feedback that our new voice system is built to fix.

Last updated on November 3, 2026

These are problems people reported on Fluxer Feedback that our new voice and video system fixes. They're about the desktop and web apps. The mobile apps keep using today's voice system for now, and they'll move to the new one in a later update.

"Built in" means the new system already does this, "Before it ships" means we'll finish it first, and "Planned" means we intend to add it. We'll test each fix before the new system ships and mark each post as fixed on Fluxer Feedback once it is.

On Linux with NVIDIA graphics, the desktop app encodes video with NVENC. Before it ships #2914, #2920, #2894

Without a hardware encoder, the software encoder uses several CPU threads. Built in #2894
Each person's video uses a codec that everyone watching can decode, and the app picks it again when people join or leave. Built in #774, #851, #649
When no codec works for everyone watching, the app falls back to H.264, which every desktop app can decode. Before it ships #649, #774
If your graphics card can't decode a screen share, the app decodes it on your CPU. Before it ships #719

Stream volume goes up to 800%, the same as a person's volume. Before it ships #4256

Your microphone

What changes When Report

On macOS, the desktop app uses Apple's own voice processing for echo cancellation. Built in #208
On Windows, a setting in the desktop app keeps microphone effects such as Equalizer APO in the sound you send. Before it ships #3055, #1045
In the desktop app, the microphone test plays your voice through the same audio code as calls, with the devices and processing you picked. Built in #47, #300
