Can I move my Operator Pass to another instance?

Not until federation is out. Then the plan is that you can move your account to another instance, and your pass moves with it.

Not yet, because Fluxer isn't federated yet and each instance has its own accounts. Until then, your Operator Pass stays on the fluxer.com account that has it.

Once federation is out, the plan is that you can move your account to another federated instance, including one you run yourself, and your pass moves with it.

Can I buy the pass with an account on a self-hosted instance?

No. You buy the pass with a fluxer.com account, because that's where we handle checkout, billing and your certificate. You never need a pass to run your own instance, and the pass doesn't unlock or change anything in the Fluxer software you run.

Can I pass it on to my account on another instance?

Not today. You can only pass a pass on to a fluxer.com account you're friends with, and other instances' accounts can't be your friends until federation is out.

How will moving my account work?

Moving your account to another instance is part of polyproto-core, the base specification that Fluxer's federation will be built on. You can read how moving will work, and the plan is that your pass and what comes with it move with your account.

What happens to my certificate?

Nothing changes. Your Operator certificate is a PDF that's yours to keep, whichever instance your account is on, and the numbers on it stay the same.
