If your custom CSS breaks the Fluxer web or desktop app, you can turn it off with a keybind. Press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + K on Windows and Linux, or ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + ⌥ Option + K on a Mac. This turns off your "Quick CSS" and your saved themes without deleting them, and you can turn them back on when you've fixed the CSS. Themes and custom CSS are allowed on Fluxer, and you don't need Plutonium to use them.
How do I turn off my custom CSS in Fluxer?
Press the keybind anywhere in the web or desktop app, even when your CSS hides the part you need. While custom CSS is off, a bar at the top of the app says "Custom CSS is off." and has a "Turn on" button. There are also other ways to turn it off.
What's the keybind to turn off Quick CSS?
- On a Mac, press ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + ⌥ Option + K.
- On Windows and Linux, press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + K.
The same keybind turns custom CSS back on, and it also works while you're typing in the Quick CSS editor. To open the editor from anywhere in the app, press ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + ⌥ Option + T on a Mac or Ctrl + Shift + Alt + T on Windows and Linux.
Can I turn off custom CSS without the keybind?
In the desktop app, open the menu of the Fluxer icon in the system tray, or in the menu bar on a Mac, and choose "Turn off custom CSS". On Windows and Linux you open that menu by right-clicking the Fluxer icon, and on a Mac you click it once.
In the web app, add ?custom_css=off to the end of the address and press Enter. This also works in a browser on your phone, where you can't use the keybind.
What does turning off custom CSS do?
It stops the app from using your Quick CSS and the themes you turned on under "Your themes", but only in the browser tab or desktop app window where you did it. On a self-hosted instance, CSS that the admins added for the whole instance still applies.
Is my CSS deleted when I turn it off?
No. Your Quick CSS and saved themes stay exactly as they were, and you can still open and edit them while custom CSS is off. The Quick CSS editor says "Custom CSS is off." while you work, and your changes show up in the app when you turn custom CSS back on.
How do I turn custom CSS back on?
Press the same keybind again or click "Turn on" in the bar at the top of the app. In the desktop app you can also choose "Turn on custom CSS" in the tray menu.
Custom CSS stays off when you reload the page and comes back on by itself when you close the browser tab and open Fluxer again or quit and reopen the desktop app. Fix the CSS that broke the app before you close the tab or quit the app.
How do I fix CSS that broke the app?
Turn custom CSS off, then open "User settings", go to "Themes" under "App settings" and click "Open quick CSS editor" in the "Quick CSS" section. The editor itself never uses your CSS and keeps working when your CSS breaks the rest of the app.
In the editor's menu, "Undo all changes" puts your Quick CSS back to how it was when you opened the editor, and "Clear" deletes all of your Quick CSS after you confirm it. If a saved theme broke the app, turn that theme off under "Your themes" in "Themes". When you're done, turn custom CSS back on to check that the app looks right.
Can I change the keybind?
Yes. Open "User settings", go to "Keybinds" under "App settings" and change "Turn custom CSS on or off". The "Quick CSS" section shows the keybind you set.
Does this work in the iOS and Android apps?
The iOS and Android apps don't use custom CSS. Quick CSS and themes are in the web and desktop apps, and you can edit Quick CSS only on a computer. If your CSS breaks the web app on your phone, add ?custom_css=off to the address as described above.
Can I fix my CSS from another device?
Only if you turned on "Sync custom CSS across devices" in the "Quick CSS" section. Your Quick CSS text is then the same on each device where that switch is on, and you can fix it from any of them. Without the switch, Quick CSS is saved only on the device where you wrote it, and saved themes always stay on the device where you added them.
