What are Fluxer's keybinds and keyboard shortcuts?

Every built-in keybind, or keyboard shortcut, in the Fluxer web and desktop apps on macOS, Windows and Linux, and how to change them.

Last updated on November 1, 2026

Fluxer's web and desktop apps have keybinds, also called keyboard shortcuts, for messages, moving around the app, voice and video and switching accounts. Press ⌘ Command + / on a Mac or Ctrl + / on Windows and Linux to see the full list. You can change almost every one of these keybinds under "Keybinds" in the settings of either app.

What keybinds does Fluxer have?

These keybinds work anywhere in the app. The sections below have the keybinds for messages, moving around, chat, voice and video, accounts, custom CSS and the desktop app, with the keys for Mac, Windows and Linux in each table.

Action Mac Windows and Linux
Show keybind list ⌘ Command + / Ctrl + /
Toggle quick switcher ⌘ Command + K Ctrl + K
Search messages ⌘ Command + F Ctrl + F
Toggle the inbox ⌘ Command + I Ctrl + I
Open your settings ⌘ Command + , Ctrl + ,
Open help ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + H Ctrl + Shift + H
Open the context menu ⇧ Shift + F10 Shift + F10

Unless a row says "desktop app only", every keybind on this page works in both the web app and the desktop app. On keyboard layouts without a separate / key, such as the Swedish and German layouts, the list opens with ⌘ Command + . or Ctrl + . instead. "Open help" opens our help center, and it isn't available on self-hosted instances.

How do I change my keybinds in Fluxer?

Open "User settings" and go to "Keybinds" under "App settings". In the menu next to each built-in keybind, "Set custom keybind" lets you choose your own keys and "Disable built-in keybind" turns it off. "Reset to built-in" brings back the original keys.

"Add keybind" lets you add keys for any action, including the actions that have no keys by default. "Disable built-ins" turns off every built-in keybind and keeps your own. "Reset to defaults" deletes all your custom keybinds and turns the built-in ones back on.

Your custom keybinds are saved on each device. Turn on "Sync keybinds" to use the same custom keybinds on every device where that switch is on. Changes to the keybinds for switching accounts always stay on the device where you made them.

The drag and drop keys, Shift + F10 and the message box keys are fixed. The desktop app's menu keybinds for reloading, full screen, developer tools and quitting are fixed too, and you can change every other keybind on this page in "Keybinds".

What are Fluxer's keybinds for messages?

To use these, press Tab to turn on keyboard mode, move to a message with the ↑ and ↓ arrow keys and press the key for the action you want to take.

Action Mac Windows and Linux
Edit message E E
Delete message ⌫ Delete Backspace
Pin message P P
Add reaction + +
Reply to message R R
Forward message F F
Read message aloud S S
Copy text ⌘ Command + C Ctrl + C
Mark as unread ⌥ Option + ↩ Return Alt + Enter
Focus text area Esc Esc

These two also work without keyboard mode, from anywhere in the channel.

Action Mac Windows and Linux
Reply to messages above or below ⌘ Command + ↑ or ↓ Ctrl + ↑ or ↓
Edit your messages above or below ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + ↑ or ↓ Ctrl + Shift + ↑ or ↓

"Bookmark message", "Toggle embed suppression", "Copy message link" and "Copy message ID" have no keys by default, and you can add keys for them.

Which keys work in the message box?

Enter sends your message, and Shift + Enter starts a new line. These keys are fixed, and you can't change them in "Keybinds" like the other keybinds on this page.

Action Mac Windows and Linux
Send your message ↩ Return Enter
Start a new line ⇧ Shift + ↩ Return Shift + Enter
Send from inside a code block ⌘ Command + ↩ Return Ctrl + Enter
Edit your last message from an empty message box ↑ ↑
Move to the formatting toolbar ⌥ Option + F10 Alt + F10
Focus the text area Any key Any key

Inside a code block, Enter starts a new line. Option + F10 or Alt + F10 only works while you have text selected, and typing any letter while you're in a channel moves you to the message box. The Markdown for bold, lists and code is in How to format messages.

These move you between communities, channels and direct messages.

Action Mac Windows and Linux
Switch between communities ⌘ Command + ⌥ Option + ↑ or ↓ Ctrl + Alt + ↑ or ↓
Switch between channels ⌥ Option + ↑ or ↓ Alt + ↑ or ↓
Move back through viewed channel history ⌘ Command + [ Alt + ←
Move forward through viewed channel history ⌘ Command + ] Alt + →
Jump between unread channels ⌥ Option + ⇧ Shift + ↑ or ↓ Alt + Shift + ↑ or ↓
Jump between unread channels with mentions ⌘ Command + ⌥ Option + ⇧ Shift + ↑ or ↓ Ctrl + Alt + Shift + ↑ or ↓
Jump to the current call ⌘ Command + ⌥ Option + ⇧ Shift + V Ctrl + Alt + Shift + V
Toggle between last community and DMs ⌘ Command + ⌥ Option + → Ctrl + Alt + →
Switch to next community or DMs (desktop app only) ⌃ Control + Tab Ctrl + Tab
Switch to previous community or DMs (desktop app only) ⌃ Control + ⇧ Shift + Tab Ctrl + Shift + Tab
Go to direct messages ⌘ Command + 1 Ctrl + 1
Go to first to eighth community ⌘ Command + 2 to 9 Ctrl + 2 to 9
Create or join a community (desktop app only) ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + N Ctrl + Shift + N

"Go to first community" to "Go to eighth community" follow the order of your community list. Ctrl + Tab and Ctrl + Shift + N only work in the desktop app, because browsers keep them for their own tabs and windows. In the web app, you can give those actions other keys.

Drag and drop

Press ⌘ Command + D on a Mac or Ctrl + D on Windows and Linux on a community in your list to start moving it. Then move it with ↑ and ↓, press Space or Enter to drop it in its new place, and press Esc to cancel and leave it in its old place.

What are Fluxer's keybinds for chat?

These work in the channel or direct message you have open.

Action Mac Windows and Linux
Mark channel as read Esc Esc
Mark community as read ⇧ Shift + Esc Shift + Esc
Start a group DM (desktop app only) ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + T Ctrl + Shift + T
Toggle pinned messages ⌘ Command + P Ctrl + P
Mark top inbox channel as read ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + E Ctrl + Shift + E
Toggle the member list or voice chat ⌘ Command + U Ctrl + U
Toggle the emoji picker ⌘ Command + E Ctrl + E
Toggle the GIF picker ⌘ Command + G Ctrl + G
Toggle the sticker picker ⌘ Command + S Ctrl + S
Toggle saved media ⌘ Command + M Ctrl + M
Scroll chat up Page Up Page Up
Scroll chat down Page Down Page Down
Jump to the oldest unread message ⇧ Shift + Page Up Shift + Page Up
Upload a file ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + U Ctrl + Shift + U
Copy channel link ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + L Ctrl + Shift + L
Send voice message ⌘ Command + ⌥ Option + V Ctrl + Alt + V

In the web app, Ctrl + Shift + T reopens a closed tab in your browser, and "Start a group DM" only works with these keys in the desktop app. "Mark all inbox channels as read" has no keys by default, and you can add keys for it in "Keybinds".

What are Fluxer's keybinds for voice and video?

"Toggle mute" and "Toggle deafen" work in a call even while Fluxer isn't the app you're using, as system-wide keybinds in the Fluxer desktop app.

Action Mac Windows and Linux
Toggle mute ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + M Ctrl + Shift + M
Toggle deafen ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + D Ctrl + Shift + D
Answer the incoming call ⌘ Command + ↩ Return Ctrl + Enter
Decline the incoming call Esc Esc
Start a call in a DM or group ⌃ Control + ' Ctrl + '
Toggle the soundboard ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + B Ctrl + Shift + B
Expand or collapse compact call view ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + V Ctrl + Shift + V

"Start a call in a DM or group" uses ' on a US keyboard and the key in the same place on other keyboard layouts, such as Ä on a Swedish keyboard.

"Push to talk", "Push to talk (priority)", "Push to mute", "Voice activity priority", "Toggle voice activity", "Toggle camera", "Switch voice channel" and "Disconnect from voice" have no keys by default. To use push-to-talk, turn on "Push-to-talk" in "Voice & video" settings and choose a key under "Keybind", or add keys for any of these actions in "Keybinds". In the web app, push-to-talk only works while the Fluxer tab is the one you're using.

Can Fluxer's keybinds work when the app isn't focused?

In the desktop app, "Toggle mute", "Toggle deafen" and push-to-talk work in other apps. In "Keybinds", the menu next to "Toggle mute", "Toggle deafen", "Open the account switcher" and the voice actions without default keys has "Global keybind" to turn it on or off.

In the web app, keybinds only work while you're on the Fluxer tab.

On a Mac, these keybinds need the "Input Monitoring" permission under "Privacy & Security" in System Settings. On Linux with Wayland, your desktop sets them up under "System-wide keybinds" in "Keybinds". Push-to-talk on KDE Plasma, GNOME and Hyprland explains how to use one push-to-talk key that your other apps can still use.

What are Fluxer's keybinds for switching accounts?

These switch between the accounts you're signed in to at the same time.

Action Mac Windows and Linux
Open the account switcher ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + O Ctrl + Shift + O
Switch to the next account ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + ] Ctrl + Shift + ]
Switch to the previous account ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + [ Ctrl + Shift + [
Switch back to the last account ⌘ Command + J Ctrl + J
Jump to the newest mention on another account ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + J Ctrl + Shift + J
Search other accounts ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + K Ctrl + Shift + K
Switch to account 1 to 9 ⌘ Command + ⌥ Option + 1 to 9 Ctrl + Shift + 1 to 9

The numbers follow the order of the accounts in the account switcher. In the web app, these keybinds only switch between accounts on the instance you have open, and on a Mac your browser keeps ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + [ and ] for switching tabs.

What are the keybinds for custom CSS?

Both keybinds for Quick CSS and themes work in the web and desktop apps.

Action Mac Windows and Linux
Turn custom CSS on or off ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + ⌥ Option + K Ctrl + Shift + Alt + K
Open quick CSS editor ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + ⌥ Option + T Ctrl + Shift + Alt + T

"Turn custom CSS on or off" also works while you're typing in the Quick CSS editor and while your CSS hides part of the app, such as your user settings.

What keybinds does the Fluxer desktop app have?

The desktop app also has these keybinds in its app menu.

Action Mac Windows and Linux
Zoom in ⌘ Command + = Ctrl + =
Zoom out ⌘ Command + - Ctrl + -
Reset zoom ⌘ Command + 0 Ctrl + 0
Reload ⌘ Command + R Ctrl + R
Force reload ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + R Ctrl + Shift + R
Toggle full screen ⌃ Control + ⌘ Command + F F11
Toggle developer tools ⌘ Command + ⌥ Option + I Ctrl + Shift + I
Quit Fluxer ⌘ Command + Q Ctrl + Q on Linux

On a Mac, ⌘ Command + H hides Fluxer and ⌘ Command + W closes the window. On Windows, Alt + Enter also toggles full screen, and Fluxer keeps running in the tray when you close its window. In the web app, your browser's own zoom uses the same keys.
