How can I unlock mature content on Fluxer?

In the UK and Brazil, you can choose to unlock communities and channels marked 18+ on fluxer.com with the age range Apple or Google already has for your account. Fluxer never asks for an ID, a face scan or a selfie, and it keeps only that you're 18 or older and when we got it.

Fluxer never asks you for an ID, a face scan or a selfie, and no outside company checks your age for us. On fluxer.com, the date of birth you enter at sign-up decides whether you can see communities and channels marked 18+, except in the UK and Brazil.

In the UK and Brazil, the law says a date of birth you type in yourself isn't enough to see mature content. If you choose to, you can unlock it there in the Fluxer app for iPhone, iPad or Android with the age range Apple or Google already has for your account, and Fluxer never asks you for an ID, a face scan or a credit card for it.

Why only in the UK and Brazil?

Laws in the UK and Brazil don't accept a date of birth you type in yourself for mature content, as our article on regional restrictions explains. An age range of 18 or older from Apple or Google unlocks communities and channels marked 18+ on fluxer.com there.

Outside the UK and Brazil, an age range does nothing on Fluxer, and the date of birth you entered decides. The apps for iPhone, iPad and Android show "Unlock mature content" only when you're signed in to fluxer.com and you're in the UK or Brazil.

Do I have to do this?

Sharing an age range is always your choice, and we'll never make it a condition for using Fluxer. If you don't share one, nothing on your account changes.

What does Fluxer promise about this?

Fluxer will never require or collect an ID or a face scan, and no outside company checks your age for us. From an age range, we keep only that you're 18 or older and when we got it, never your date of birth or your exact age. Here's everything Fluxer gets from an age range.

How do I unlock mature content with an age range?

In the Fluxer app for iPhone, iPad or Android, open your settings and go to "Privacy dashboard". Under "Sensitive content", press "Unlock mature content". Apple or Google Play then asks whether you want to share your age range with Fluxer.

If the range says you're 18 or older, the app sends that to Fluxer once and never again on its own. Communities and channels marked 18+ then become available on your account in the UK and Brazil, including in the web app and the desktop app. It works together with your date of birth, and both of them need to say you're 18 or older.

If you decline, the app sends nothing and nothing changes. If the range says you're under 18, the app doesn't send anything to Fluxer either and nothing on your account changes, but the app keeps 18+ content turned off on that phone or tablet.

  • On iPhone and iPad, you need iOS or iPadOS 26.2 or later, and here's more about how unlocking mature content works in the app for iPhone and iPad.
  • On Android, you need the Fluxer app from Google Play on a device that passes Google Play's device check, which lets us confirm the result came from our app.
  • If Google Play doesn't have an age range for your account, Fluxer gets nothing. Google may offer to add one in the Play Store, and that choice is between you and Google.

In the app for iPhone and iPad, anything marked 18+ also stays off until you turn on "Allow 18+ content on iPhone and iPad". It's under "Sensitive content" in "Privacy" in the web app and the desktop app, and it only changes the app for iPhone and iPad.

Does the app ever ask without the button?

Where Apple says the law requires apps to ask for an age range, the app for iPhone and iPad may ask Apple when you open it. That result stays on your device and is never sent to Fluxer. The app for Android asks Google only when you press "Unlock mature content".

Can I remove an age range?

You can remove it at any time in the web app or the desktop app. Go to "Privacy" and press "Remove age range" under "Sensitive content". We delete it from Fluxer right away, and the mature content it unlocked is locked again. Deleting your Fluxer account also deletes it.

How do Apple and Google know my age?

How Apple or Google knows the age on your account is between you and them. Nothing they ask you for, such as a document or a photo, comes to Fluxer.

Apple explains how it handles this on its pages about sharing your age range with apps and region-specific rules for Apple Accounts, and Google explains it on its pages about age range sharing on Google Play and age-restricted content and features.

Is this available on self-hosted instances of Fluxer?

Unlocking mature content with an age range is only available on fluxer.com. On a self-hosted instance of Fluxer, the Fluxer apps don't show "Unlock mature content" and never ask Apple or Google for an age range or send one to Fluxer.

Is this available if I use a VPN or proxy to change my location?

We work out whether you're in the UK or Brazil from your connection, as for our regional restrictions, and section 3.2 of our privacy policy explains how. That decides whether the apps show "Unlock mature content" and whether the UK and Brazil rules apply.
