Why did my antivirus flag Fluxer?

A Windows build that hooked into games for better screen capture was flagged by some antivirus software. We removed that feature, and Fluxer isn't malware.

For a while, the Windows desktop app hooked into games to capture them better when you shared your screen, and some antivirus software flagged it. Fluxer isn't malware, and newer desktop releases don't include that feature because we removed it on August 29, 2026.

Why did my antivirus flag Fluxer?

The Windows desktop app had a feature that tried to capture fullscreen games and avoid the yellow border that Windows draws around a captured window. It hooked into the game you were sharing, which is a standard way for apps to capture games. Some antivirus software flags that method because certain malware uses it to snoop on programs.

Fluxer only used it to capture the game for your stream, and the code was always open source, so anyone could check what it did and how it worked.

Is Fluxer malware?

No. Fluxer is made by Fluxer Platform AB, a registered Swedish company. All of the desktop app's code is public under the AGPL, and anyone can read and build it from GitHub.

We removed the game capture feature on August 29, 2026, and the warnings about it don't apply to desktop releases from that day on. If your antivirus flagged an older version, uninstall it and install the current one from our download page.

Is the Fluxer app signed?

Yes. Every Windows release of the desktop app since August 10, 2026 is signed through Microsoft's Artifact Signing service, and the signature is in the name of Fluxer Platform AB. On macOS, the app is notarized by Apple. A signature shows who made an app, but it doesn't stop antivirus software from flagging a method it doesn't trust. You can check that your download is genuine yourself, on Windows, macOS or Linux.

What can I do if my antivirus still flags Fluxer?

First make sure you downloaded Fluxer from our download page or from the fluxerapp releases on GitHub, and that the signature or checksum matches. If it does, you can report the warning to your antivirus company as a false positive. If you think you've found a real security problem in Fluxer, email security@fluxer.com as our security policy describes.

What is Fluxer doing about game capture?

We're looking at how other apps that capture games deal with antivirus software, and that may include working with antivirus companies directly. Until then, the desktop app can't capture some fullscreen games on Windows, and you can capture those games in OBS Studio and share OBS's virtual camera in Fluxer as a workaround.

Has Fluxer been hacked?

No. Fluxer has never had a data breach, and your data on fluxer.com is encrypted in transit and at rest. If a breach ever happened, we would notify the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) within 72 hours of finding out, as the GDPR requires, and tell the people affected directly and without undue delay when it puts them at high risk.

Why does my browser block fluxerusercontent.com?

fluxerusercontent.com is Fluxer's domain for files that people upload, and it's on the list of our domains in our security policy. On October 12, 2026, one security product flagged the domain by mistake, and the company behind it has fixed that mistake.

The files on that domain come from people on Fluxer, and uploads aren't scanned with antivirus software, so open files only from people you trust.
