Does Fluxer have threads and forums?
Yes. Threads, forum channels and media channels are in early beta for everyone on web, desktop, iOS and Android, and any community can add them to its channels.
Will forums be readable on the web?
Public forums are planned (Roadmap 2026, item 5), and a community will choose whether a forum channel is public when it creates the channel. The community won't be able to change that choice later. Fluxer will never publish messages from DMs, group DMs or regular chat channels on the web, and search engines can't find those messages.
How do I format messages?
You can use Markdown for bold, lists, code blocks, tables, spoilers, timestamps and alerts, and how to format messages on Fluxer shows what to type for each one.
Does the GIF provider know who I am?
No. The GIF provider gets only the words you search for and never your IP address or any of your device identifiers, because the app sends your GIF searches to the provider through Fluxer's servers, as section 13 of our privacy policy says.
How does message search work?
Put words in double quotes to search for that exact phrase. Without quotes, search finds messages that have your words anywhere in them, in any order.
You can filter by who sent a message, who it mentions, the channel and the date, and by whether it has links, files or embeds or is pinned. Typing filters like from:, mentions:, in:, before:, after:, has: and pinned: works too, and you can sort the results and filter them by file name and file type when you look for files.
Can I reply to several messages at once?
Not yet. A reply points to one message, and replying to several isn't on the roadmap. To point at more messages, paste their links with "Copy message link" or use "Forward".
Can Fluxer translate messages?
Partly. In the web and desktop apps, "Translate" in a message's menu opens the message or the selected text in the translator you pick under "Default translator" in settings. Nothing goes to that translator until you choose "Translate", and then its privacy terms apply.
On iOS and Android, "Translate" uses your device's own translation feature when it can. Translation built into the Fluxer app isn't on the roadmap.
Does Fluxer render LaTeX math?
Yes. Code blocks marked latex, tex or katex show as math, but math between dollar signs in a line of text isn't supported. A math block can be up to 1,024 characters long with up to 64 commands, and a bigger block shows up as plain code.
Does Fluxer have message reminders or scheduled messages?
Not yet, and neither is on the roadmap. You can save a message with "Bookmark message" and find it later in "Bookmarks", but you can't set a reminder. Personal notes are a private channel just for you. You can only put communities in sidebar folders, not DMs.
Are my messages end-to-end encrypted?
No, not yet. End-to-end encryption for your personal notes, DMs and group DMs is on our roadmap, and there won't be a setting to turn it off once it's out.
Your messages are encrypted in transit and at rest. Fluxer's servers process your messages to deliver them and can access their content, and a person on our team reads specific messages only when someone reports them, when we investigate a specific rule break, when there's a credible safety issue or when we respond to a valid legal request.
How many people can be in a group DM?
A group DM can have up to 50 people, including you. Group DMs will grow to 250 people on the same timeline as end-to-end encryption for them (Roadmap 2026, item 4).
Can Fluxer show what game or music I'm playing?
Not yet. An activity status for games and music is planned and being worked on, and it will be opt-in, so it stays off until you turn it on. Today, the desktop app doesn't look at which programs you run, and you can set your online status and a custom status.
Which accounts can I connect to my profile?
You can connect a Bluesky account and your own domain under "Connections" in your user settings, and you choose who can see each one on your profile. Connections to game, music and streaming services aren't available and aren't on the roadmap.
Can old messages be deleted automatically?
No. Fluxer doesn't delete old messages automatically for you. You can delete your own messages one at a time, or many at once with "Delete my messages".
